As students, we are always trying to find ways to buy the things we want without having to break the bank. Whether you are trying to save on groceries, technology, or leisurely activities, we have a list broken down by category, of 55 stores with student discounts.
Drug Stores
Shoppers Drug Mart: On Wednesdays, if you spend $30 or more before tax, you can get 5000 bonus points! Make sure you bring your student ID! You can also earn points with the PC Optimum card (which can also be used at Loblaws).
Drugsmart: Queen’s University’s on campus drug store. Get the Drugsmart Rewards card and earn points which can later be redeemed for FREE products!
Fitness
Queen’s Athletic and Recreation Centre: Included in your fees as a Queen’s Student!
GoodLife Fitness: Student memberships are offered, including four-month term membership options.
Food
Arby’s: Arby’s offers a 10% discount at certain locations with your student ID.
Burger King: That burger and fries will come with a 10% discount with your student ID (at select locations).
Bulk Barn: Students receive 10% off on Wednesdays with student ID.
Dairy Queen: Most Dairy Queens offer a 10% discount for students with ID. Check with your local DQ restaurant to see if they offer a discount.
McDonalds: Get the app! You can score some good deals especially on things you were going to order anyways.
Subway: You can get 10% off your sub with your student ID at some locations.
Grocery Stores
Metro: Get 10% off your groceries on Tuesdays!
Loblaws: On Tuesdays, students get 10% off with their student ID. You can also earn points with the PC Optimum card (which can also be used at Shoppers Drug Mart).
Food Basics: On Tuesdays, students get 10% off with their student ID.
Retail
Adidas: Get 30% off full-price and an additional 15% off outlet items online to a select number of schools across Canada. Students need to have a valid university email address.
ASOS: Get 10% off full-priced ASOS products.
Banana Republic: You can score 15% off full-priced items in store.
Champion: This store offers 10% off purchases online.
J.Crew: Get a 15% discount in stores when you show your student ID.
Kate Spade: Show your student ID and receive 15% off your purchase.
Nike: Get 10% off purchases online.
Puma: Get 20% off purchases online.
Roots: Students save 15% with SPC cards on regular-priced and sale merchandise.
Steve Madden: They offer 10% off in store with your valid ID. Get those extra pair of shoes!
TOMS: Students get 10% cash back on shoes, as well as free shipping! And for every pair you buy a new pair will be given to a child in need.
Topshop: Score 10% off Topshop apparel in stores and online.
Under Armour: Enjoy an extra 10% Off sitewide sale when you shop with Under Armour online.
Urban Outfitters: Save 10% off on specific days with your student ID.
School Related
The Globe and Mail: The Globe and Mail offers post-secondary students reduced subscription rates for the newspaper and Globe Unlimited.
The New York Times: University students can save 50% off the regular subscription rate. Check the university rate page for all the details.
Technology
Apple: Students can save up to $300 on a MacBook—and you get a free pair of Beats wireless headphones when you buy a Mac or iPad Pro for college. Apple offers special pricing on Apple computers, select software and third-party products to post-secondary students, parents buying for a post-secondary student, and faculty and teachers.
Dell University: Dell University is a program that offers discounts on technology for students, including a $150 coupon.
Canon’s Student CPS program: Get access to student-specific pricing discounts, membership-exclusive promotions and a 20% discount for repair parts and labour on eligible products.
Microsoft: The Microsoft Store offers up to 10% off to students and parents during back-to-school and throughout the year.
Theaters
Cineplex: Get discounted admission tickets every Tuesday! Scene members save an additional 10%!
Landmark: Reel Deal Tuesdays! Save up to 40% on movie tickets all days and night every Tuesday!
Transportation
Air Canada: Air Canada also offers the Student Pass, which is a prepaid package of four or six one-way flight credits for one student. You can fly anywhere within Canada or between Canada and the U.S., starting at $139 per flight credit.
Greyhound: A student ID will save you 10% and an ISIC card will save you 25% on a regular adult fare.
VIA Rail: Travel between major Canadian cities with an Unlimited Semester Pass starting at $499.
Rideshare Groups: Join the Queen’s University Rideshare Facebook group! Rides are generally $25 to and from Toronto, $20 to and from Ottawa, and $25-$30 to and from Montreal.
Tickets and Admission
Art Gallery of Ontario: All visitors who are 25 and under receive free, unlimited admission to the AGO.
Canadian Opera Company: If you’re under the age of 30, you can buy opera tickets for only $22.
Ontario Science Centre: Students with valid ID pay $16 for entry.
National Ballet of Canada: Sign up for the free youth pricing program and get steeply discounted tickets for day-of performances. This deal is open to people aged 16 to 29.
Ripley’s Aquarium: Offers 20% - 30% off admission during February reading weeks and the month of April.
Royal Botanical Gardens: Student discounts on both single entry and annual membership.
Royal Ontario Museum: Students get into the ROM for $14.50 any day of the week. On Tuesdays, admission is free with a student ID.
Other
Amazon: Students can get a free six-month trial of Amazon Prime after which students receive 50% off Amazon’s Prime service. This includes free two-day shipping on all of Amazon’s items, and a $10 credit when you refer a friend.
Apple Music: Apple Music also offers a student deal of $4.99 per month.
Borrowell: Sign up for FREE Credit Card Score Checks.
FedEx: When you’re shipping a package, you can get 20% - 30% off by showing your student ID.
ISIC Canada Card: The International Student Identity Card is your student discount card in Canada and around the world. It offers discounts on planes, trains, laptops from Dell, reduced pricing on Microsoft office, and savings with over 40,000 discounts worldwide.
SPC Savings Card: Offers vary but most are 10% - 15% off. If you’re a student, all you need to do is show your SPC Card at thousands of participating locations for savings every time you shop.
Spotify: Students have access to Spotify Premium for only $4.99 a month (half the price of the normal fee).
UNiDAYS: Become a member to access a world of discounts from your favourite brands. They offer fast, free, exclusive deals for students.
Shaw: Student discounts on Shaw Internet include 12 months plans at $45 and $55/month including the modem (plus taxes). This deal is available until Sept. 30
